The royal celebration of Edisonia celebrated its 81st year on Saturday, Feb. 2, welcoming a new king and queen to the realm. The ball broke tradition by moving from Fort Myers to Cape Coral and crowned Shep Brinson and Megan Sushil king and queen, respectively.
The Edison Pageant of Light was the inspiration of Robert Halgrim, who wanted to create a celebration paying homage to Thomas Edison. The Fort Myers Woman’s Community Club and the Jaycees enthusiastically helped him develop the mythical kingdom of Edisonia.
The celebration will continue with the Edison Festival of Light Grand Parade on Feb. 16.
