Education and the arts inspire young women

On Jan. 12, the League of Courageous Women is partnering with Naples Art Association and Collier County Public Schools Superintendent Dr. Kamela Patton, who will speak on the importance of art in education.

Dr. Patton, who was recently named Florida’s superintendent of the year, will discuss her personal connection to art and music and her mission to keep arts in public schools.

As a proponent of arts integration, an approach to teaching in which students connect an art form to another subject area, Patton believes the method provides more opportunities for students to be expressive and learn in different ways.
