Documentary honors Black community of Zephyrhills

by The 100 Companies

A new documentary offers a living testimony to the Black community of Zephyrhills, Florida. “Zephyrhills, America: Stories Seldom Told” shines light upon the city’s unique Black history, as told by those who lived it.

The 40-minute YouTube film features interviews with families, civic officials, local pastors and former TV reporters. From segregation and integration, to the 2004 controversy sparked over renaming Sixth Avenue after Martin Luther King, Jr., the documentary pays homage to Zephyrhills’ past and offers continued hope for the future.

“We’ve made a lot of progress, but there’s a long way to go,” said lifelong resident, Elaine McKenizie.
