Memorial Day is usually a time spent with family and friends, celebrating the start of summer. But as we enjoy the day off, we must pause and reflect on its true meaning.
Memorial Day honors millions of Americans who lost their lives serving our country. Our ideals of freedom and democracy are only possible due to their service.
We can honor their memory by being there for veterans as they return home and transition to civilian life – as many struggle with survivor’s guilt and invisible wounds – as well as for the families of the fallen. DLC’s Veterans Services can help.
