The Collier County Board of County Commissioners is considering reducing the taxes it collects for the Conservation Collier Land Conservation Program as a way to lower residents’ tax bills. However, voters overwhelmingly support Conservation Collier – as they showed at the ballot box in 2020 – and any reduction is opposed by many who are aware of it. Unfortunately, many are not.
The board will hear comments from the public and then decide on Conservation Collier funding as part of its approval of the FY2024 tax rates at a public hearing Thursday, Sept. 21, beginning at 5:05 p.m.
