During the academic year, school meals provide children with two healthy, nutritious meals for breakfast and lunch. However, not having that resource each day during the summer can place additional budget demands on some families.
The USDA Summer Food Service Program is partnering with SWFL schools to make resources available to families after that final bell rings for the summer. The partnerships with community sites and youth organizations help to create a sense of community through a new web-based application, BreakSpot.
Using BreakSpot search helps connect families to nutritious, local breakfast and lunch locations near them throughout the summer.
