Kosmas Ballis is the man behind the mask – the “Kosmask.” Ballis is an award-winning sculptor who put himself through Florida State University’s master of fine arts program by making masks and selling his art.
What began as a study of the face ended up as an expressionless mask that was reproduced so other artists could add their own interpretations of what the face reflects. The masks are essentially blank canvases.
They started to come alive as an array of fine artists began collaborating on the “Kosmask” project in 2017. Various masks can be seen at the KAJ Gallery in Naples.
