Mayor Bill Barnett recently forwarded a “Do The Right Thing” story that was so special, I had to share it. Young Macy Thompson, a 10-year-old student at Lake Park Elementary School, was distraught when she found a dead mother opossum in her backyard.
The opossum had a pouch full of babies that were alive. After Googling what to do, she took action and helped the seven baby opossums by taking them to The Conservancy of Southwest Florida’s von Arx Wildlife Hospital.
We would like to applaud her compassion and the courage it took to help these animals in need.
