There’s no better time for watching (and counting) birds than spring. Birders across the state are marking their calendars and getting out their binoculars for the Audubon Florida Birdathon from April 8-14.
This event that started in the 1980s identifies as many bird species as possible in a 24-hour period while raising funds to protect birds and the places they need. Aside from Florida’s iconic year-round avian residents, colorful migrants heading north from the tropics are also expected.
