Leah Shwedel was diagnosed with Type-1 Diabetes (T1D) when she was only five. Four years later, she grew up to be a smart, brave and lovable girl who has been sharing her experiences to raise awareness about T1D, or Juvenile Diabetes.

She was recently invited, along with 160 other children with T1D, to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF) Children’s Congress. They met with several federal lawmakers to share their stories of battling the disease and how the increasing cost of insulin can be life-threatening.

Leah also serves as a JDRF Youth Ambassador and has spoken at several JDRF Galas.
