$30M transfer to the state for the veterans’ facility

In my most recent newsletter, I expressed several concerns about the lack of specificity for transferring $30 million in taxpayer funds to the State Veteran Services.

I fully support our veterans and want them to have the best care available. I have made the transfer to the state based upon full confidence of the board’s comfort with the fund’s controls and project commitments from firsthand discussions with the state and federal representatives.

In the future, I hope we can work together at the beginning of a project to mitigate these types of concerns. We’ll continue to monitor the project for taxpayers.
